Don’t get me wrong, I like facebook and my friends list, but sometimes those game requests are very annoying.

I really had to stop game requests on facebook account that i have.

Not only make the list uglier but it disturbs my insight on more important things in my facebook account.

Though i have thought that the new facebook profile sucks, i guess i am slowly getting used to it.

Most of all, Facebook is free to use, so we can’t complain and expect it to be perfect for us.

Facebook, with over 500-million members, has added the ability for users to login and surf the site using a more secure encrypted connection, known as HTTPS.

The encryption is the same used on shopping and banking websites to secure connections, and was previously used on Facebook when passwords are checked.

“Starting today we’ll provide you with the ability to experience Facebook entirely over HTTPS. You should consider enabling this option if you frequently use Facebook from public Internet access points found at coffee shops, airports, libraries or schools,” the company said in a blog post.

Facebook noted that the site may function more slowly using HTTPS, and some features, including many third-party applications, don’t currently support HTTPS.

In addition to the added encryption, Facebook said it will now also offer “social authentification,” a unique form of the traditional “captcha” coding that will ask a user to identify Facebook friends from their photos.

So let’s say you are deciding whether to purchase an offer and you’re just not sure if it is a legitimate offer by a legitimate company. Here is what you do. Go to the whois lookup. You can just Google it. Every website has to be registered. There you will find the information on the company or individual. If the name, address and contact information is not there, you have another red flag. If you can’t find the contact information on the website or it doesn’t match the registration, you have yet another red flag.

There is no need to purchase any product or service online with a scam company. Today, there are many great online marketers that are legitimate. They will give you their full contact information. For example if a plug-in allows you to set an option whether to write a log or not (like number of spam comments caught, etc), then disable it. This will reduce the number of database insertion/update calls.

7. Reduce the number of Widgets and other components as much as possible.
Although putting a weather widget or other widgets are cool, do you really need them? Besides cluttering your blog and turning visitors off, it can also put a strain on the server. Turn them off!

Google gives a lot of “weight” to the title tag when searching for keywords. It is therefore vital to make sure your most important keywords or keyphrases appear within this tag. It seems to work best if you’ve other words in your title tag too after your keywords, but try to remain under 35-40 characters.

I imagine many of you know this already but Google does not use meta tags such as the keywords meta tag or the description meta tag. This is because the text within these tags can’t be seen by visitors to a website. Therefore Google feels these tags will be abused by webmasters placing lots of unrelated words in them in order to get more visitors.

This lack of support for meta tags means that Google creates your description from the first few lines of text on your page. This in turn means that you’ve to have your keywords and phrases right at the top of your webpage, if Google finds them your page becomes more relevant, if however it doesn’t find them the rest of your page has to work harder to become relevant. To see an example of what I mean scroll back to the top of this page and you’ll notice keyword rich wording similar to:

The above text includes keywords and keyphrases related to the theme of this page. Now when people search for any of those keywords or keyphrases this page is much more likely to be near the top of the results than a page that doesn’t imply this technique.

Google considers keyword density in the body of a page for determining relevancy too, so make sure your keywords and phrases appear a couple of times throughout the whole page. Don’t go overboard though, a density of 6-10% seems to work best.

How much keyword laden links matter is anyone’s guess. I have however noticed a lot of sites which give the HTML code to visitors who want to exchange links do include keywords in the actual linking area. You should do this too on your links page, say something like “if you want to link to this site, please use the following code”. The code would of course have your most important words in the actual link text and your less important words in the accompanying description of your site.

Google Pagerank

In the above section of the article you’ve learned what areas Google uses and looks at when looking for a relevant site, but what method does Google use to determine which site is better, the answer is the Pagerank system.

Pagerank is as the name suggests a ranking system of pages. It works on the basis that if a website ABC.COM has been linked from a website XYZ.COM, abc.com must have some good content and therefore Google will count the link from XYZ.COM as a vote for ABC.COM. You can check your Pagerank on Google by downloading the Google toolbar from http://toolbar.google.com

The Pagerank™ scale goes from 1 to 10 on the Google toolbar and from 1 to 7 beside listings in the Google directory. A less important site is of course a site with a PR of 1 and a very very important site is a site with a PR of 7 or 10, in the directory or toolbar respectively.

The more links or votes a site has the more important it must be and therefore the higher it will rank for search words which it is relevant to, right?, WRONG!.

Google does not simply count the number of incoming links a page has, if that was the case every webmaster from Iceland to Vietnam would try and exchange links to every Tom, Dick and Harry website that would let them. In Googles own words:

“Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important.”

Hopefully your beginning to get the idea. The idea is to have your page linked to by as many high quality and high pageranked sites as possible. Right? RIGHT and WRONG.

WRONG BECAUSE, you see the Google Pagerank system also takes into account the number of links the page that has linked to you has. The reasoning for this is that a page X has a certain amount of voting PR, if your site Y is the only link from that page X, then Google feels confident that page X thinks your page Y is the best link it has and will give you more PR. If however page X has 50 links, page X could think your only the 50th best link. Hence the more links a page has the less of a PR boost your site will get.

RIGHT BECAUSE, linking to a site with a 6+ PR will provide a significant boost to your PR in most cases, but in cases where the site also links with 100 other sites the boost will be almost zero. Likewise if a site has a PR of just 2 but you and only one other site are linked from it, then the PR boost would be more than the site with 100 links and a PR of 6.

Google Pagerank formula

It’s beginning to come complex isn’t it, just wait till you see this formula. It looks scary for non math’s people.

First let me explain what the damping factor is. The damping factor is the amount of your PR which you can actually pass on when you vote / link to another site. The damping factor is widely known to be .85, this is a little less then the linking pages own PR.

PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + … + PR(tn)/C(tn))

In layman’s terms PR(A) is the Pagerank boost your page A will get after being linked from someone else’s site (t1). PR(t1) is the pagerank of the page which links to you and C(t1) is the amount of total links that (t1) has. It is important to know that a pages voting power is only .85 of that pages actual PR and this voting power gets spread out evenly between all sites it links to.

Imagine http://www.akamarketing.com was linked by XYZ.COM’s link page which had a PR of 4 and 9 other links, here’s how the formula should look like:

PR(AKA) = (1-.85) + .85*(4/10)
PR(AKA) = .15 + .85*(.4)
PR(AKA) = .15 + .34
PR(AKA) = .49

To sum up my site would get an injection of .49 PR after being linked from a page with a PR of four and 9 other links.

Let’s say I was linked from a site with a PR of 8, double the previous example’s amount, which had 15 other links, a total of 16 outbound links, my boost would be:

PR(AKA) = (1-.85) +.85*(8/16)
PR(AKA) = .15 + .85(.5)
PR(AKA) = .15 + .425
PR(AKA) = .575

The above two worked examples show that not only is the PR of the linking page important but what is also important is how many other sites are also linked to from that page.

I think we’ve had enough maths stuff for now, just remember that the name of the game is to get as many links from pages with high PR and few other links. The more of these links you get the more your PR will grow and the more your rankings will improve for your relevant keywords.

Google Pagerank™ and web directories

The best thing you can do for your PR seems at the moment seems to be getting listed in Dmoz.org. Dmoz.org is home to the Open Directory Project which is a human compiled directory of websites.

Pagerank™ is widely known to be biased towards big name directories such as Dmoz.org, Yahoo and Looksmart.

This is true, especially in the case of Dmoz.org. These ODP links are treated like gold by the Pagerank™ system. It doesn’t even matter what the individual PR of the category page is. I have seen sites gain a large PR boost on the toolbar as soon as Google updates its directory with the latest one from Dmoz.org. This is because Google uses its own version of the ODP for the Google web directory.

Well they are and it will. Perform a search for almost anything on Google and you’ll discover that 75-80% of the top 10 results are also indexed in the Google directory and therefore also listed on Dmoz.org. The fact of the matter seems to me to be if your not listed with the ODP, you shouldn’t expect much traffic from Google.

Getting a listing is not difficult, it does sometimes take time but it’s not difficult. Just make sure your site has good content and follow the guidelines for adding a URL. Try to get your index page listed at least. I say at least because although ODP claims only to list your index page, there are plenty of sites with 5 – 10 pages listed.

Therefore if your site has very distinctive sections you can submit each section, beware though that this must be done slowly, otherwise you may be banned from the directory altogether for spamming. Once Google updates its directory these listings could do wonders for your sites Pagerank™. Regarding Yahoo and Looksmart, Pagerank™ will usually allocate a more than normal amount of PR boost for any sites listed. Tips on getting listed in Yahoo can be read in Yahoo submitting tips.

If you’re a non-commercial site or have a site that’s almost completely non-commercial you can get into the Looksmart directory through http://www.zeal.com. I really love this site, just like Google obtains its directory results from ODP, Looksmart obtains its non-commercial listings from the Zeal web directory. Without Zeal I would have to fork out hard earned cash and all my site does is provide free information in the form of articles and tutorials.

To continue, I submitted AKA Marketing.com on a Tuesday and was listed in Zeal by Thursday morning. On Monday I checked my logs and found lots of referrals from Looksmart, I was in Looksmart already. I looked at my logs later only to find MSN had updated its database from the Looksmart database and was sending me loads of visitors because of the good listing I got. My site was listed in Zeal, Looksmart and MSN within six days. Needless to say I highly recommend you get over to Zeal.com and submit your site.

Before you can submit a site however you must pass a member quiz, the quiz is a fairly simple straightforward one, you might however learn a thing or two while doing it.

If you happen to be a webmaster that has a listing in all three of Dmoz.org, Yahoo and Looksmart then I’m guessing your site has good to very good PR and rankings.

Until Google Sitemaps was released in the summer of 2005, optimizing a site for Google was a guessing game at best. A website’s page might be deleted from the index, and the Webmaster had no idea why. Alternatively, a site’s content could be scanned, but because of the peculiarities of the algorithm, the only pages that would rank well might be the “About Us” page, or the company’s press releases.

As webmasters we were at the whim of Googlebot, the seemingly arbitrary algorithmic kingmaker that could make or break a website overnight through shifts in search engine positioning. There was no way to communicate with Google about a website – either to understand what was wrong with it, or to tell Google when something had been updated.

That all changed about a year ago when Google released Sitemaps, but the program really became useful in February of 2006 when Google updated it with a couple new tools.

So, what exactly is the Google Sitemaps program, and how can you use it to improve the position of your website? Well, there are essentially two reasons to use Google Sitemaps:

1. Sitemaps provide you with a way to tell Google valuable information about your website.

2. You can use Sitemaps to learn what Google thinks about your website.

What You Can Tell Google About Your Site

Believe it or not, Google is concerned about making sure webmasters have a way of communicating information that is important about their sites. Although Googlebot does a pretty decent job of finding and cataloging web pages, it has very little ability to rate the relative importance of one page versus another. After all, many important pages on the Internet are not properly “optimized”, and many of the people who couldn’t care less about spending their time on linking campaigns create some of the best content.

Therefore, Google gives you the ability to tell them on a scale of 0.0 to 1.0 how important a given page is relative to all the others. Using this system, you might tell Google that your home page is a 1.0, each of your product sections is a 0.8, and each of your individual product pages is a 0.5. Pages like your company’s address and contact information might only rate a 0.2.

You can also tell Google how often your pages are updated and the date that each page was last modified. For example your home page might be updated every day, while a particular product page might only be updated on an annual basis.

What Google Can Tell You About Your Site

Having the ability to tell Google all this information is important, but you don’t even need to create a sitemap file in order to enjoy some of the perks of having a Google Sitemaps account.

That’s because even without a Sitemap file, you can still learn about any errors that Googlebot has found on your website. As you probably know, your site doesn’t have to be “broken” for a robot to have trouble crawling it’s pages. Google Sitemaps will tell you about pages it was unable to crawl and links it was unable to follow. Therefore, you can see where these problems are and fix them before your pages get deleted from the index.

You can also get information on the types of searches people are using to find your website. Of course, most website analytics tools will give this information to you anyway, but if the tool you use doesn’t have this feature, then it’s always nice to get it for frëe from Google.

But the best part of the Sitemaps program is the Page analysis section that was added in February of 2006. This page gives you two lists of words. The first list contains the words that Googlebot associates with your website based on content on your site. The second list contains words that Googlebot has found linking to your site!

Unfortunately, Google limits the number of words in each list to 20. As a consequence, the inbound links column is partly wasted by words such as “http”, “www”, and “com” – terms that apply equally to all websites (hey Google, how about suppressing those terms from the report?). That said, this list does provide you with a way to judge the effectiveness of your offsite optimization efforts.

When you compare these two lists, you can get an understanding of what Google thinks your website is about. If the words on your Site Content column are not really what you want Googlebot to think about your site, then you know you need to tweak your website’s copy to make it more focused on your core competency.

If, on the other hand your inbound links don’t contain any keywords that you want to rank well for, then perhaps you should focus your efforts in that direction.

Above all else, you really want these two lists to agree. You want your inbound linked words to match up to the site content words. This means that Google has a clear understanding of the focus of your website.

Additional Benefits of the Sitemaps Program

Google has even started notifying Sitemaps-participating Webmasters if they are breaking any of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. This can be very valuable information if your site suddenly becomes de-listed on Google and you don’t know why.

Only Sitemaps participants can get this information, and it is only provided at Google’s discretion. In fact, Google will NOT notify you if you are creating worthless websites that offer no original content, or if you are creating thousands of doorway pages that are redirecting to other web sites. Google doesn’t want to give the sp@ammers any clues as to how to improve their techniques.

How Do You Get Started with Google Site Maps?

The first thing you must do is obtain a Google Account. If you already have a Gmail, Adsense, or Adwords account, then you are all set. If not, you can register an account by visiting the Google Accounts page.

Building your sitemap file is pretty easy to do if you are familiar with XML, and if you aren’t you can always use a third-party tool such as the ones that are listed on Google’s website. Google also has a “Sitemap Generator” that you can download and install on your server, but unless you are fairly adept at managing Python scripts, you should probably stick to the third-party tools.

At any rate, once you have your Google Account and your Sitemap file built, the rest is very easy. All you have to do is:

1. Log into your account

I have about 30 sites, and I am using both WordPress® (for blogging) and Joomla® (for basic web site functionality). You can also get programs that are purpose built for photo galleries, calendars, project planning, “wiki” style sites, or whatever you like. The ones I use are “open source,” meaning they are “free” and simply installed with no financial outlay to your hosting service. The advantage of these systems is that they have been battle tested very broadly, so most of the kinks are worked out of them. Create a Facebook Group

Your readers have a common interest – your blog’s subject. My readers are preparing for the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). Maybe yours are interested in knitting, running, or making money online. Just as they have subscribed to your blog, they will join your Facebook group.

At the beginning of December 2008, I created the 2009 LSAT Study / Discussion Facebook Group. Someone else had created a 2008 LSAT Group, and I wanted to be the person to create the 2009 group, so I started early. When someone is searching Facebook for an LSAT group to join this year, they’ll see my group has over 100 members, but someone else’s group on the same topic only has 3, guess which group they’ll join.

Note: I didn’t make the group about my blog directly – I made it broader. Why? So people searching on Facebook for LSAT-related groups would feel welcome to join. If they thought it was limited to my blog’s readers, the prospective member might not even visit the group page, which means he/she would never see the link to my blog.

So I created a group and placed a prominent link to my blog on the top, but it only had one member – me. Not very impressive, right? I didn’t want my readers to think my group and blog were unpopular, so I immediately invited all of my Facebook friends to join the group. Some of my Facebook friends were already planning to take the LSAT, so inviting them to join my new Facebook group had two additional benefits:

1. It informed them of my blog if they didn’t know about it already.

2. Facebook’s news feed told all their friends, making the group a viral marketing mechanism for the blog..

Of course, the Facebook group is more than a viral marketing mechanism too. It helps your readers to connect with each other in a way comments don’t. While comments are generally responses to your postings, Facebook’s discussion boards allow direct interaction between readers. My readers have used the Facebook group to find LSAT study partners and form study groups by posting messages on the discussion board and the Wall. How did I tell my readers about the Facebook Group? I posted a link to it on the side of my blog, and I made a brief blog post about it for those who hadn’t noticed the link.

Search Facebook for groups on your topic and related ones. In each of these groups, you can post a message on the group Wall or discussion board, or you can use the Post a Link feature to notify the group’s members of your group and your blog. By promoting your Facebook group at first, instead of promoting your blog, you decrease the likelihood that the group administrator will remove your message.

After doing all of this, Facebook became one of my biggest sources of traffic, and I don’t even have to do much to keep the Facebook traffic coming. In order to get more readers, you need to have a presence where they are. For me and for many bloggers these days, our present and future readers spend their time in social networking sites.

If you are new to internet marketing, you may wonder what one of the simplest, quickest ways is to get your site into a high position in the search engine results. The answer is to get as many one-way backlinks from high PR websites that are related in content to your own website. The easiest way to do this is to find a good list of directories, and submit to the ones that have a high PR and that Google seems to value.

You can submit to both free and paid website directories. Most of the directories with PR5 or better are paid directories. If they do accept free submissions, you may have to wait a year or more for your submission to be reviewed. Paid directories usually have a time frame that they guarantee to review your submission (usually less than a week). Submission to paid directories ranges from $3 to $199 for a lifetime listing.

Other paid directories have monthly or yearly submission fees. In addition, featured placement of your listing costs more. Submitting to paid directories is a great way to promote your website and improve your ranking in the search engine results. Don’t let the submission prices scare you. There is a way to submit to paid directories for free.

There are literally hundreds of new website directories coming online everyday. Many of the site owners offer free or discount submission for a limited time. This allows them to promote their site, increase traffic, and start adding links into their directory categories. You can seize this opportunity to get free placement into a directory that may be very valuable in the future.

You may first be tempted to pass when you see that the directory doesn’t yet have a Google PageRank (the toolbar PR is grey). This is simply because the website is new and hasn’t earned a PageRank yet. Google typically updates their toolbar PR every three months. So the new directory may have a PR3 or PR4 in just a few months time. Many experienced directory owners aggressively promote their new sites so that they have a high PR and can command higher submission fees.

How can you find these new directories accepting free submissions? Join a webmasters forum. Find a forum that has a lot of members and active threads involving web directories or directory promotion. The Digital Point forum, for example, has at least 20 – 30 free submission invitations each week for new directories. If you join two or three forums like this, you could submit your website to as many as 50 new directories a week, without spending a single marketing dollar.

What you save in submission fees, you trade in on time. Submitting to an established paid directory with PR7 will cost seventy dollars or more. If the page your site is listed on has a PR5, then maybe you can increase your site’s PR to PR3. So if you want to increase your website’s importance to PR5, then you will need many links from PR6 and PR7 pages which could cost two or three thousand dollars.

Submitting to new directories with PR0 won’t increase your own PR until the PR of these directories pages has increased. If the directory owners work hard to promote their sites, they may receive a PR5 after two Google updates (about six months). This is a sensible approach to seo for those who don’t have the thousands of dollars in their marketing budgets. Just keep submitting to directories every few days, and the quantity and quality of the links you get will greatly benefit your own site.

Despite customer resistance, eventually the message will get through that submission is not necessary. Search engines use directories to check the value of websites, remember directories are human edited and these directories add check for the search engines, one of the most popular directories that most search engines check with is dmoz. Submitting to directories is overlooked because it is so time consuming and it has to be done manually to be done right, but it is a great search engine optimization strategy.

Each listing carries a brief summary of the content contained within. Links in directories are free, paid, or free but need a reciprocal link. A directory is a compilation of links that are organized in a way to make it easy to search on. Sometimes, you search for something in the directory and you don’t find it, not because it is not there but because the directory search script just doesn’t cut it.

If you decide to pay for a directory listing make sure the directory has a good page rank and has a proven traffic record, this way you know that the money you spent is well worth it. Many directories offer free directory submissions. Paid and free are the most common form of directory model. A one way links or a link exchange is considered a free link. Search engines like to see a site updated regularly, and maintaining the directory will assure that all the links are still functional and that all the URLs still exist.

Many sites are rejected due to inappropriate descriptions. The description is the most difficult item to define correctly. One way to get help for an accurate description is to ask friends to view your website or ask people from forums to view your site. A description is not an advertisement and should never contain superlatives or excessive marketing hype. When writing your description you are not writing it to sell your product you need to write it showing the benefit of your product, no hard sell in the description.

When using directory submissions you will see an increase in links and traffic to your site. These are great methods of driving traffic to your site. The main thing you want for your website is targeted traffic and traffic that converts into sales.

When using a directory submission service make sure you find a service that will continually add your sites links to directories even after the initial submission. By paying one price for the initial submission and never having to pay again for additional submissions to directories is what you want.

The reasons for this are simple, submitting to directories is long monotonous process, it is easier to pay a flat rate and have someone else do it for you. When choosing the service make sure you can enter more than one title, description, categories and keywords. The reason for this is that you want to rotate the title and description among the directories. Make sure you receive a submission report and snapshots of the submissions. If you don’t receive emails from the directory owners this is a good indication that your site is not really being submitted.

When you know what to do – Adsense is quite easy to master. When I want to make about $30 to $35 daily on each site, I follow these Google Adsense tips:

Tip 1: Place Ads Above the Fold

When a page loads, what you see is called the fold. It is important to make sure that Adsense ads are visible without a person having to scroll down. The majority of people surfing the Net won’t waste their time with this and often do not scan below the fold.

Tip 2: Do Not Exceed Four Ads For Each Page

This tip does not refer to ad blocks, as I am speaking only about ads. Google has a knack for situating the best advertisements at the top of a page so the fewer ads you display, the more you will receive for each click.

Tip 3: Select Medium Rectangles

When showcasing three ads, I suggest using a rectangle that measures 250 x 250. You may also split test a larger rectangle, but I have found that the best results come with a rectangle of medium size.

Tip 4: Don’t Ignore the Power of Blending

You’ve probably already heard this before, but people are becoming increasingly blind to ads. If something looks like an advertisement, it has a good chance of becoming ignored. This means that your ads need to blend in with your website. I suggest using the same background color and the same size font. Also, blend in borders into the background. And:

Tip 5: Make Links Blue

It doesn’t matter what your text or background color is – Adsense links are blue. People view the color blue as a sign that a link is present. The whole point of this entire process is to get people to click on your links – especially when they are attached to Adsense.

Tip 6: Channel Set-Up

When possessing more than one ad unit for each page, make sure to set up a channel for each unit, but also remember not to exceed more than four ads per page. If there is only one ad unit on a page, create a channel for each. Channels are a good way to monitor which ads are making a profit and which ones do not.

Tip 7: Monitor CTR Progress

CTR (Click Through Ratio) is rather important to consider, as it showcases the amount of clicks that are divided by the number of page views. This number is then multiplied by 100. If one of your pages possesses a lower CTR than the rest, you may want to consider altering the content on the page. When following the before-mentioned suggestions, you should have established at least a 5 to 10% CTR. If this is not the case, you may want to reorganize your site.

Tip 8: Constantly Check Adsense Ads for Content Relevancy

At times, some irrelevant Adsense ads will make an appearance on your pages. If so, it is highly recommended to investigate the issue. Some people have found that they had to switch meta tags, while others learned that a single word in the content was influencing efficiency and effectiveness.

When I want to make at least $30 per site on a daily basis, these are the tips that I follow. While I can’t promise you that this will generate as much money as I make – I do know that it would be foolish to overlook these easy Adsense tips, as you stand to miss out on making a lot of money.

The reason why so many people struggle with Adsense and do not seem to be able to make more than a few cents at a time is because they insist on creating sites without first carefully investigating and researching the highest paying Adsense keyword phrases. The results are that even if they are able to generate reasonable traffic and clicks, they hardly have anything to show for their efforts at the end of the day.

Remember that even a topic you are deeply interested in will have its highest paying keywords. Many times you will find that the very content lying on your site currently and paying something like 1 cent per click can earn you $2 per click or more by simply changing a few keyword phrases here and there.

The value of Adsense keywords is so important that it cannot be taken for granted. For instance 20 clicks a day paying 1 cent will earn you 20 cents a day and $6 per month. Setting Rules
Most blogging platforms such as Blogger do not have a built in set of rules for comments. The comments section is left open by default and you can make changes to it if you desire. Try creating a commenting policy and posting it on your page somewhere. This may seem like it would lower comments, but by describing what is allowed, readers with potential comments they might not have been willing to share initially are more likely to comment.

Show Some Humility

Just be prepared to stand up for your opinion and to do it gracefully.

Graciousness, Admit When You Are Wrong
If you make a mistake and someone writes a comment pointing out that mistake, try to accept their comment and admit your mistake. It is very easy to become defensive and angry on the Internet where you have no personal contact with your readers. However, by showing that you graciously accept someone else’s comments and opinions, you show humility and increase the likeliness of return visitors and readers.

Don’t Make it Hard to Comment
Blogger has an option that allows you to require a login for the posting of comments. This is too much work. If you require a login, many people will decide against commenting altogether, especially if they need to sign up for a new account to do so. Instead of requiring login information, you can set your comments for approval before they post. This allows you to sort out comments and delete spam if necessary.

Make It Worth Their While
If you offer a reward for a good comment, you not only encourage repeat comments, you encourage better comments. Mark especially good comments with a comment of your own, or reference them in a new post. This draws attention to your readers and shows you are reading what they say.
